What Is The Most Important Business Outcome For You?

Seldom do other people see that beyond the façade of success is a whole iceberg of trials and challenges. Each organization, regardless of industry, shall encounter a lot of blockages. Tenacity, fortitude, sustenance – all these values shall aid any entrepreneur and entity in weathering these challenges. But more than the journey, what is your destination?

Each organization has its purpose, embodied in its mission, and has its goals, embodied in its vision. At the end of the day, it is important to know the direction that we are taking towards our goals; the steps that we calculate to get to where we want to be. And so every organization needs to answer this question: “What is the most important business outcome for you?”

In our organization, we always keep in mind that once we become complacent, we die. As how the CEO of Nokia puts it, “we did not do anything.. but somehow, we lost.” And so personally, the most important business outcome is not just increased sales, additional branches or franchises, nor famous products. It’s the endless pursuit of GROWTH. Growth teaches us to expand our brand while earning the skills, knowledge, and attitude to forge ahead and be the better versions of ourselves. Growth is a result of continuous innovation and avoidance of complacency. Growth is persevering to be a deliverer of quality service or excellent products. Growth is a lifelong mission not to be where you are. Growth is knowing where you want your company to be, and work on getting there with passion and integrity.

However, growth is not just a single act. Not a sprint; but a marathon. More than the conscious choice to avoid mediocrity, it is an unceasing pursuit to move from better to best. So “growing” is not enough – we couple it with something perpetual, something sustainable. Consequently, we should all focus on a business outcome that incessantly pursues growth. Not the volatile one, but a consistent, positive one. So we shift to this: Sustainable growth. This is the growth that never dies. This is the growth that brings out a positive, consistent result after a well thought of action. This growth is a commitment to never be contented with being where you are. However, we need to keep in mind that having sustainable growth is not getting where you want to be quickly. Many are fast but they are going nowhere. You can get to your destination and be the better versions of yourselves and your organization without hastening, or worse, skipping the process of hard work, excellence, and commitment.

So after aiming for Sustainable Growth as our vision, we arm ourselves with the values that shall define us… that will define our brand, our company, our management, and our people. When all’s said and done, the mission and vision statements in your offices are mere statements. What you convey through your actions and display in your decisions shall ultimately define who you are and if you will earn the growth that you seek and sustain it to meet the purpose for which you have established your organization for.
